![]() The Button has been finished, it now just fits onto the top of a standard clippard "button" to keep things simple. It's in there, really. I'll add pictures of it when I cast one up. |
![]() The "claw" part of the hook is in there, I'm going to cast 3, glue them on and mold the head of the hook as one piece. |
![]() The barrel is glued to styrene for molding, vents have been added, and XPS foam was used to plug the hole for the inner barrel to pass through. I left it slightly larger and forced it into the opening, hopefully there will be no seepage. I cut a 1/2 round hole into it for a key. |
![]() You can see the foam in place better here. Doing it this way will give me a little more of a challenge doing the other side of the mold, but I have that figured out already. You'll just have to wait to see what it looks like later. |

![]() Walls in place and hot glued down. I added a slight taped to what will be the top and bottom (in this pic left and right sides) to save on silicone. I did spring a leak when I walked away and had to mix up some more silicone. NOT good since I was trying to use as little as possible without resorting to a case mold. Oh well. |

Well, as soon as this cures I'll be making the support shell, including the cutouts for the vents. After that, I have to flip it, check for seepage, remove the foam, and build the retaining walls for part 2. Since didn't use the rod in there to support the box I will be suspending it from above. It's going to be made of XPS foam like the plug. I will cover it in "glowder" (wood glue and baby powder) to give it a smooth surface. It will have a taper so it's easier to remove from the silicone. I'll suspend it from a piece of styrene glued to the retaining walls and it will extend into the barrel. Once the silicone poured around it has cured it will be removed and the fiberglass shell will extend down into the cavity left by it. This will cut down the amount of silicone needed for this half. |
![]() The bottom of the button. The space there fits onto the clippard button. |

![]() The hook held together with rubber cement for pictures. |
![]() The side of the hook. You can make out the areas that need sanded on the bottom of the cast tines. I may make it a little bit longer, overall it's about 2 inches right now. |
![]() The hook from the top, like in the photo below. Looks pretty close doesn't it? |

A shot of the hook on TV, the only angle I have to work from. I have NO idea what the thing looks like from the side. Not happy, but I'll live. |
